We Tried and Tested Some Old and New Skincare Products by Clinique

Created in 1968, Clinique is one of the most well-known and respected beauty brands in the world.

When American Vogue beauty editor Carol Philips and New York dermatologist Norman Orentreich published an article called ‘Can Great Skin Be Created’, it grabbed the attention of a young Evelyn Lauder, daughter-in-law to Estée Lauder.

After reading the article, Estée recruited both Phillips and Orentreich to help create a brand that could do exactly what the article stated.

And, in August 1968, Clinique premiered as the world’s first allergy tested, dermatologist-driven at home skincare range, at Saks Fifth Avenue.

The BB team road tested six skincare products by Clinique to find out why they are now one of the biggest skincare and cosmetics brands in the market with stores located in over 135 different countries.

Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask $52:

Charcoal masks are perfect for those of you with either combination or very oily skin, as charcoal helps to balance out excess oils produced by the skin. This mask helps absorb those oils, whilst cleansing the skin from impurities and other environmental pollutants, to help detoxify and clear the skin. Your skin will feel fresh and smooth after using this mask, which is best used at night.

Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk $47:

This cleansing milk is soft and gentle and works really well to easily remove sunscreen, makeup and dirt from your skin without the use of harsh chemicals. The residue-free formula helps to maintain a moisture barrier, leaving your skin smooth and clean. Although suitable for all skin types, due to the high milky texture of this cleanser, we recommend it for those of you with more dry skin than oily.

Take The Day Off Eye Makeup Remover Stick $33:

This eye makeup remover is perfect if you’re always on the go, as the handily-sized stick fits easily into your purse or makeup bag. Without the use of harsh chemicals and fragrances, this eye makeup removal stick dissolves even the longest wearing eye makeup. It’s grease-free too, so it can be used throughout the day to either remove or touch up eye makeup.

From left to right: charcoal mask, milk cleanser, eye makeup remover, eye concealer, blemish treatment and face wipes.

All About Eyes Concealer $36:

This concealer is easy to wear under your favourite foundation and helps to disguise any undereye circles while reducing puffiness. It’s long-wearing and keeps the undereye area keep well hydrated, so it doesn’t crease or settle into any fine lines. Perfect for all-day wear. This concealer suits all skin types too.

Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel $48:

This is our favourite product, and we love it here at BB headquarters. The gel has been enhanced by Clinique’s four-in-one clearing complex, which uses salicylic acid to clear blemishes instantly.

It also contains sea whip, which helps to soothe sensitive skin. This anti-blemish gel actually works and easy to wear under your moisturiser and foundation. You can either use a thin layer over your face to help clear away more than a few blemishes, or use as a spot treatment for any nasties, then simply cover with concealer and foundation and you’re good to go.

Take The Day Off Cleansing Towelettes (50 pack) $30:

With added micellar technology; which is a breakthrough cellular cleansing technology to help remove makeup and dirt from your skin, these ready-to-go towelettes help remove dirt easily and are in a re-sealable package, making them perfect for the gym, travel or any quick makeup changes throughout the day.

These towelettes don’t dry out your skin, but we still recommend moisturising afterwards, if you are re-applying makeup afterwards

All Clinique products listed above are available online and in-store with Sephora.
