Summer Beauty Secrets I’ve Stolen from Celebrities

There’s no doubt celebrities know how to look hot no matter whether the weather is hot or cold.

They usually have a team of stylists on hand to keep them polished and looking hot for any occasion.

But every now and then, a celebrity will let it slip and share a beauty secret they have, on ways they keep their skin glowing, their hair flowing and their lips plump.

These five beauty secrets have been my go-to styling hacks for a while now, taken from a few of my favourite celebrities.

Sophie Turner: Use heat-protectant and SPF for hair

Whether you plan on styling your hair, or let it be free and natural in the sun, you need a good SPF product to protect it from any heat damage. Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones always uses a heat-protectant spray to ensure hair stays hydrated and soft and damage-free from any heat impacting her lovely locks.

I am moody with my hair, which means, some days I feel motivated to style it and other days I let it be free. Or if I am feeling super unmotivated, it’s a high pony or side plait. I always use both an SPF spray and leave-in conditioner after washing my hair to compensate for any hair day I am feeling.

This means, my hair is always protected no matter the style and if I do choose to style it a few days later using a hot hair styling tool, a simple spritz with a good heat-protectant spray is all you need.

I recommend using the Sun Bum Protecting Heat Protector Spray RRP $25 from Target for beach days and the GHD Heat Protect Spray RRP $24.65 for days when your styling and need to protect hair from the sun and from any styling tools also.

Khloé Kardashian: Use SPF cream on your hands

Your hands really are the first part of the body to show signs of ageing. And if you’re a regular user of UV lights to have your nails done with the latest gel colours now trending, you probably don’t realise every time your hands are under the UV light to dry, you’re slowly ageing your hands too.

To slow down the ageing, always wear sunscreen cream on your hands. In-fact this should become part of your beauty routine whether or not you are getting your nails done. Especially when you spend a lot of time driving and your hands are sitting in the sun on the steering well. Hello pigmentation and age spots – yikes!

Kardashian also recommends keeping SPF in your car to apply to your hands when driving. And if she is doing it, we should all be doing it.

I recommend the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunscreen Lotion RRP $16.99 which non-greasy and easy to wear anywhere on the body, especially the hands.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Use oils to protect hair from chlorine

Although Rosie recommends this beauty secret for blonde hair, I have been stealing this tip for many years for my brunette locks. Chlorine is damaging to any colour hair and oil on the air protects from damage and also protects any hair colour from being bleached out.

Any oil will work, however, many hairstylists to the celebrities recommend Moroccan oil as being one of the best, due to its compound. It will stop hair from drying out and protect against colour run and for blonde hair, it will prevent any yellow tones from appearing after a swim in the pools.

Try using any product which contains Moroccan Oil, Argan Oil, Coconut Oil or Olive Oil. This can be in the form of a cream or spray you apply either to wet hair when drying, or to already styled hair for hydration. The oils will provide protection against the water to prevent hair from drying out and also stop chlorinated water from bleaching coloured hair.

Lauren Conrad: Wear moisturiser on your feet at night with socks

Lauren regularly wears a nice thick moisturiser on her feet at night whilst she sleeps to lock in moisture for smooth and sandal-ready feet in summer. Of course, she always scrubs her feet in the shower first, to ensure she removes any dead skin cells, which helps the moisturiser to absorb better into the skin.

This has been one of my favourite beauty tips, as I suffer from dry hands and feet constantly. To help combat any issues, I love using a coffee scrub on my feet and then before bed, I will use a nail oil on all the toes to keep the cuticles nice and soft and then coat with a nice thick cream and cover with socks when I go to bed.

I recommend The Body Shop Peppermint Foot Moisturiser RRP $19 which contains soothing peppermint for dry and itchy feet which also provides rich hydration too the skin after a day at the beach.

Kim Kardashian: SPF lip balm

Your lips get sunburnt too, and we seldom think about wearing any sun protection on them assuming whatever balm or lipstick we are wearing will protect the lips anyway. Right? Well no, you need an SPF to keep your lips from burning too.

Kim always uses an SPF lip balm under all her lip wear to ensure they stay protected and never burn. Because have the best pout is the envy of all. And having dry cracked sunburnt lips is not only painful but looks horrible too.

Try the Aspect Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut Oil RRP $15.40 for a rich hydration boost to dry lips. Although made with coconut oil, this balm can withstand a hot Aussie summer and won’t melt in your bag. Perfect for when you’re at the beach.

Olivia Culpo: Use face mists to avoid makeup from caking

I swear by face mists and use them in summer and winter, to help keep skin well hydrated and protected from the harsh environment. However, face mists are also great for keeping your makeup in-tact, fresh looking and will prevent it from melting off your skin in summer.

Olivia swears my face mists and uses one by Evian, which prevents makeup from caking and keeps makeup fresh whilst keeping skin well hydrated. This also keeps her makeup looking dewy on her complexion with a quick spritz when the skin is drying out after being in the sun, or in the air conditioning all day.

Check out the seasonal range of face sprays by Shu Uemura which adopt a different spray for different seasons. My favourite is the Skin Perfector Mist RRP $52 which is infused with the natural botanical oils of the Cypress Pine. It smells amazing and skin feels so soft throughout the day.

My Favourite Beauty Product of the Week:

Formula 10.0.6 Total Take Away Skin Purifying Bubble Mask RRP $12.99

Snap, Crackle and Pop away dirt and grime from the pores of your skin, with this deep cleansing bubble mask. I use this mask for the many nights I find myself walking through the front door after eleven pm, as the bubble texture of the mask easily removes makeup and grime from the day (and night) leaving skin fresh, clean and well cleansed.

I simply shower as normal and wash my face once with my favourite cleanser. Then once I am out of the shower, I lather up my face with the bubble mask and let it do its job, whilst I moisturise and get ready for bed. Once the mask is all fizzed out, I wash off with warm water and apply a good face oil and I’m done.

Five minutes is all you need for this mask to work. It’s a cream-like texture which begins to fizz once activated by oxygen, so it will instantly begin to bubble once you apply to the skin.

Like the charcoal bubble sheet masks, this mask will begin to foam up and you will feel a slight tingle on the skin as it works to break up dirt and grime and remove any makeup or dead skin. It has a light fruit scent too, which is perfectly matched the fizz of the mask.
