Finally, A Liquid Foundation for Both Oily and Dry Skin

24 bottles of foundation all next to each other

This next-level foundation by beautyblender has restored my faith in a full coverage matte foundation for both oily and dry skin.

It’s the curse of text-book combination skin. Oily T-zones and dry spots where neither a matte nor a non-matte foundation can help you conquer your skin phobias of softening the dry spots and reducing the shine in the oily spots.

Despite having oily skin throughout most of the year, my skin is the type which easily irritates when using a matte foundation, This means if the foundation is too matte, it will result in a pale washed-out version of myself, which lacks any vibrancy or colour in my skin tone.

So I lean towards a less matte and more oily foundation which works with the oil of my skin to keep me looking fresh and dewy, which I top off which a very light translucent powder on the forehead and chin to stop the shine. Especially if I’m having my photo taken.

And just when I thought it wasn’t possible for a foundation to adapt to my skin problems, being that it’s both oily and dry, beautyblender has gone and done it, by creating a foundation which actually does both.

Bounce by beautyblender (RRP $64) is a Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation available in more than forty shades. It’s weightless and lasts nearly 24-hours. (Though I can’t imagine anyone would want to wear any foundation for more than 12-hours.)

Developed using a high-speed Hyper Whip process (according to beautyblender), the silky formula of the foundation is whisked into a light-as-air texture making it the first of it’s kind, with unparalleled bendability, for a full coverage soft look which works with both oily and dry skin. Finally.

The foundation also has the added benefits of White Birch Extract, which has been known to soothe and brighten skin. The result is a beautiful velvet matte look with a clean finish, which doesn’t look too chalky or too dewy, but just right and resulting in a natural glow to the skin.

As a fan of light-weight foundation, Bounce by beautyblender has made it into one of my top four foundations due to the natural component of the liquid, where it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any foundation at all.

It blends well and is smooth to apply, working to give you full coverage, as it compensates for any dry and oily spots. And, I didn’t need to use any concealer either. A little goes a long way and I found myself using the extra foundation I had squeezed out onto my hand as a spot checker. Meaning, I used a smaller brush to dab over any spots which did stand out a little.

Though this foundation did such a great job at covering any skin imperfections I had, I hardly needed to apply any extra. Yes, its coverage is that good.

I love the feel of this foundation of my skin too. It is silky and doesn’t feel like it dries out my skin as I apply it, which I often feel when using a matte foundation on oily skin.

Normally with any foundation I wear, after a few hours of wearing, due to the high amount of oil my skin produces, foundation generally begins to wear off and I always find myself re-applying when I can throughout the day.

Even with a finishing or setting powder. I managed to get through at least six hours without having to re-apply this foundation. A serious game-changing foundation for anyone with serious oil problems like me.

I must mention their Opal Essence Serum Primer (RRP $48) which helps boost overall radiance and moisture to my skin, before applying the foundation. This was my first time using the primer and I was seriously impressed by it. It’s not a new product by Beauty Blender, and I can’t believe it has taken me this long to actually try it.

Unlike other priming products, which are generally cream-based, this one is a light serum, which absorbs quickly into the skin, and gives you a nice glow before applying any foundation. It also doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any primer, which I love as I prefer my products; like foundation, to feel like I’m not wearing anything at all.

To finish off my beautyblender experience, I polished off my look with their Re-Dew Set & Refresh Spray (RRP $45).

My Favourite Beauty Product of the Week:

Abundant Natural Health Magnesium Gel RRP $22.99

The science of magnesium has proven there are many health benefits to using this powerful ingredient for both skin health and muscle health.

Fused with cucumber, this new gel by Abundant packs a punch for easing any muscle aches and pains after exercise the natural way, and keeps skin soft and healthy. It is also amazing to help with sleep if you rub it on the tummy before bed.

Cucumber boosts moisture, so skin feels soft and well hydrated when using this gel, whilst the magnesium works to ease muscle tension after a strong workout of running, weights or Pilates.

I’m obsessed with this gel because it makes my skin feel calm. My muscles are less tense once the magnesium has absorbed.

It’s great in warmer weather also, as the cooling sensation of the gel texture soaks into the skin, providing relief on all accounts. Oh, and did I mention how well this gel melts into the skin? There is no oily residue and it dries fast. The cucumber smell is also refreshing and summery.
