8 Products to Soothe the Skin for Winter

Winter can often leave skin feeling more sensitive, dry and irritated. Combat these effects using the right products to help soothe the skin.

Hot showers, baths, heaters and a reduction in daily water intake, can all leave skin in winter feeling a little less hydrated, nourished and protected in the winter months.

It’s important to nourish your insides as much as the outside to keep the body well hydrated, like swapping cold water for warm water (or herbal teas) and eating lots of hot soups, fresh veggies and fruits throughout the day.

For the outside, here are eight new products to help sooth winter skin:

THE FACE:

Nivea recently released a fabulous new affordable range just in time for the cooler months. Keep skin clear with their new MicellAIR Skin Breath Makeup Remover (RRP $13.99) which works like a magnet to clear away dead skin cells and dirt and can be used morning and night.

For night, regenerate the skin using their Urban Skin Good Night Detox Mask (RRP $13.99) which can be worn whilst sleeping. Using antioxidants, Green Tea Extract, Provitamin B5 and Hyaluronic Acid, the mask which is a gel-like formula works to detox skin throughout the night leaving skin in the morning replenished and renewed.

Innovative South Korean beauty brand Innisfree recently launched two stores in Sydney, which is super exciting as their products are both completely natural, afforable and easily accessible to anyone. Read our previous story here on this amazing skincare brand.

For day try their Jeju Orchid Enriched Cream (RRP $40), which has been enriched by the powerful vitality of Jeju Island orchids to further improve overall skin health and appearance. This cream will help keep skin well hydrated in the day, leaving no oily residue and is designed to combat the signs of ageing, making skin look firm and plump.

For night and an extra boost of hydration and rejuvenation to the skin, Innisfree also have a specially formulated sheet mask which helps to boost natural collagen in the skin. The Skin Solution Mask Collagen Firming Sheet Mask (RRP $3) enriches collagen in the skin, improving the look of sagging.

THE BODY:

It’s easy to neglect the body when focusing on skin health of the face during winter, but it’s important to remember to take care of the skin all over your body in the cooler months too.

Cleansing Milk for the body are best during winter, as they help to replenish the skin as the showers get hotter in temperature and they are easy to apply all over the skin in a bath too.

Try the new Belle Frais Cleansing Milk by Edible Beauty Australia (RRP $59). It’s vegan, natural and contains ingredients like apple, amino acids, antioxidants and jujube to help boost overall moisture, texture and elasticity to the skin.

The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream (RRP $11) is another good choice for winter. Made with cold-pressed virgin coconut oil from Samoa and Community Trade organic soya oil from Brazil, the cream is a sweet smelling tropical scent which leaves skin feeling soft and supple all over.

For skin types prone to sensitivity and excess flakiness in winter, try using Nuskin’s In the Rau Dry Body Oil (RRP $115). It is on the high-end side of the market, though its luxurious texture is worth the price tag, for a specialised treatment to the skin.

Infused with an antioxidant-rich blend of raw marula from Africa, which can only be harvested once a year, the oil is a rich blend of coconut, milk thistle and camellia to sooth and replenish skin.
